My Approach
Connecting the mind and body
My approach is based on connecting the mind and body, to restore balance, wellbeing and clarity.
Mind-body practices acknowledge that our thoughts, emotions and physiology are linked. This connection creates a body-mind that influences and is influenced by all aspects of a person’s physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.
Mind-body practices bring together neuroscience, psychology and physical therapies for deep, holistic healing.
When we explore somatic therapies, we are honouring our mind-body awareness and the innate wisdom of our body — we are bring our body-mind back to wholeness.
We are taking steps to embody our true self.
How do body-based practices differ from traditional therapy?
Traditional talk therapy primarily focuses on what’s going on in your head. It looks at modifying your thoughts without releasing the source of those thoughts.
And many people leave feeling unsure of how to change or feeling that how they feel is wrong. They experience a constant struggle between how they think and feel and how they want to think and feel.
Body-based practices have become the fourth wave in therapy. They are revolutionising traditional talk therapy by including the body’s experience of those thoughts and feelings. We can go beyond acknowledging a traumatic experience, and safely work through the experience to gently release it from our body.
Emotion and trauma live in the body, not the mind. By befriending our body, we can unblock and heal past events, and be liberated from trauma symptoms, stress and pain.
